If you are renting accommodation independently, you have to pay Council Tax. You can get exemption if you are studying a minimum of 20 hours per week or more. Our Student Services office will provide you with a letter which you can give to your landlord or send to your local Council.

The School Student Services office provides letters that will help you open a bank account and get a direct debit card (very important if you want to apply for a Student Oyster Card).

A NUS (National Union of Students) card gives you discounts on food and clothing. You can apply for a card online at www.nus.org.uk. The cost is £10.00. A Student Oyster Card allows you to travel around London on the underground, buses and trains at 30% discount. You can apply online at www.oystercard.co.uk. You will need to upload your enrolment letter and passport photo and also pay £5 by debit card.

All non EU Citizens students need to register with the Overseas Visitor Registration Office (www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk).This must be done within seven days of arrival. You will need to provide your passport & travel documents, Home Office letters, enrolment letter, proof of address in the UK, and £34.00 registration fee.

All students are eligible to register with a UK doctor – for more information visit www.nhs.uk. Student services will send you a letter to your home address if requested.
