Life in the city

Birmingham

A city of over a million people, Birmingham is a rejuvenated, reinvented and cosmopolitan place to study. It welcomes over 33 million visitors each year and has one of the youngest populations in Europe, with over 50% of the city aged 35 or under.

With its fine art, independent film festivals, art galleries and many free museums, the cultural offering of Birmingham is extraordinary and ever-changing. The City Centre contains over 1000 shops alone, with 200 restaurants representing more than 25 different nationalities.

Add the vibrant nightlife and a student population of over 70,000 people into the mix, and you begin to understand the wealth of activities and events awaiting you.

Our Social Programme

Using English outside the classroom is key to improving language skills, and there is no better way to do this than by socialising. That’s why we have an extensive range of social events and activities available to enrich your student experience.

Social activities include on-campus events, as well as visits to local attractions such as Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Cadbury World, SeaLife Centre, The Custard Factory, theatre visits, and other social and networking events.

Located in the heart of the United Kingdom, Birmingham is a great place from which to explore further. This means we offer a variety of weekend day trips around the UK. Popular places to visit include Bath, Stonehenge, Brighton, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Oxford, London and York.
