Our Programmes

Pre-master English ProgrammeThe key focus of this course is the study of English for Business purposes and is appropriate for motivated business students who wish to excel in their business language skills. There is also a significant component of General English, consolidating students' knowledge and practice of grammar, structure and vocabulary at Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate levels. This course is also suitable for those students who are considering preparing for the Cambridge Business English Certificate (the "BEC"). The Business English course is ideal preparation for students who are continuing on to the Master's and Certificate programmes at the London School of Business and Finance.

Business English Language Skills

The students will be exposed to a variety of real-life and vibrant Business topics such as:

  • Corporate structures and organisations;
  • Cultural awareness;
  • International meetings and etiquette;
  • Making travel arrangements;
  • Job interviews;
  • International markets; and
  • Business ethics.

General English Language Skills

Students will study valuable speaking, listening, reading and writing skills such as:

  • specific pronunciation skills such as English stress, rhythm and intonation;
  • formal and informal English language structures and when to use them;
  • tips for speaking with more confidence;
  • writing emails, letters and a wide variety of business correspondence; and
  • completing challenging comprehension exercises using authentic materials from the Business community.

Practical Business Skills

Students will learn to communicate in English through dynamic class-work, fun role-play and exciting group projects in order to learn how to:

  • express themselves confidently in business situations;
  • articulate opinions and ideas in an organised fashion;
  • present ideas effectively to a group or to individuals; and
  • invite suggestions and information from others.

Available levels: Pre- Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced. Students must be at a high Pre-Intermediate level to enter into the first level of Business English (Pre-Intermediate). Upon arrival students will meet with a senior member of our staff and will be placed in the appropriate level at that time.

Who is this course for?

The Business English courses are appropriate for motivated business students who wish to excel in their business langugae skills or to prepare for the Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC).

How can I progress after this course?

The Business English courses are ideal preparation for students who are continuing on to the Master’s and Certificate programmes at the London School of Business and Finance or are continuing their studies with another University in the United Kingdom.

How many hours per week will I study?

You can choose to study 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours per week. (20 hours per week minimum required for non-EU students)

  • Entry Criteria: Students must be at a high Pre-Intermediate level to enter into the first level of Business English

PLEASE NOTE: Students must be 18 years or older to participate in any LSBF
School of English course.
